Want to spice up your cell phone?  Then check out Plusmo!  Plusmo is free service that lets you run mobile widgets on your phone. Mobile widgets are tiny application (software programs) that offers a much better mobile experience for a specific purpose. Plusmo offers over 20,000 widgets and most of them were created and shared by users.

You can visit the site to choose from thousands of widgets or create your own. The service was launched in June 2006 with funding from the founders, several ex-Googlers and valley veterans. Today, there are more thousands of widgets published on Plusmo and the company averages about 10 million mobile page views monthly.

To use Plusmo all you need is a browser on your mobile device. Go to plusmo.com/m from your mobile phone browser and download the client.
Some operators block access to J2ME applications based on the data plan of the subscriber. So, even though your browser might be working, you might see connectivity issues with the Plusmo client.

AT&T to Launch Xora GPS TimeTrack Service on May 23

AT&T business customers can now keep their companies on the right track with Xora GPS TimeTrack. AT&T Inc. and Xora Inc. announced today the availability (on May 23) of the solution for workforce management for AT&T customers.

Xora GPS TimeTrack uses Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to give businesses timesheet data collection, job/work-order management, payroll integration and location tracking capabilities on AT&T-powered smartphones.

Xora GPS TimeTrack will be available via wireless download on the BlackBerry 8800, BlackBerry 8820, BlackBerry Pearl 8110 and BlackBerry Curve 8310 handsets, as well as the AT&T Tilt, BlackJack II and MOTO Q 9h global smartphones, which use the largest wireless data network in the U.S.

Sprint & Samsung Announce Mobile WiMAX Technology is Ready

Sprint and Samsung Electronics Corporation Ltd. announced today that a new broadband wireless network offering the speed and mobility of WiMAX has met Sprint's rigorous commercial acceptance criteria including overall performance, handoff performance and handoff delay.

This key technical milestone has been passed after extensive evaluation both in the XOHM lab environment and with the commercial service network being built in the Baltimore and Washington D.C. area. Sprint plans on launching commercial WiMAX service in those cities later this year.

Samsung has been working with Sprint in the United States to test and build Sprint's XOHM mobile broadband Internet service compliant to the mobile WiMAX standard. Since finalizing a supply agreement in 2007, the two companies have steadily made progress on the extensive project with previous key milestones including first data session in the lab (June 2007), first data session on the live network (October 2007) and successful interoperability testing with multiple other device vendors (April 2008).

RIM to Offer Microsoft Windows Live Services on BlackBerry Smartphones

Microsoft Corp. and Research In Motion recently announced an agreement to provide Microsoft Windows Live services on BlackBerry smartphones. As a result of this collaboration, BlackBerry smartphone customers will enjoy easy mobile access to Windows Live Messenger and an enhanced level of integration between Windows Live Hotmail and the BlackBerry platform.

The integration of Windows Live services into the BlackBerry platform will allow customers who use Windows Live Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger on their BlackBerry smartphone to benefit from the BlackBerry platform architecture with the ability to communicate in real-time using push technology, and offering an exceptional mobile communications experience.

Customers will also be able to seamlessly access their Windows Live Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger account from their BlackBerry smartphone by simply entering their Windows Live e-mail address and password once.

Alltel Adds More Than 1 Million Customers Last Quarter


Alltel achieved record customer growth in the first quarter, adding more than 1 million gross customers for the second consecutive quarter. Net customer additions also hit a new high with a 63 percent increase year-over-year.

Revenues were $2.3 billion, an 11 percent increase from the same period a year ago. The company reported a net loss of $125 million, due primarily to significant increases in interest costs and depreciation and amortization expense following the completion of the merger.
