Rogers Wireless Launches Hybrid Cell / Landline Phone Service
| Canadian Rogers Communications Inc. today announced a new service today that will allow its customers to have a hybrid cell/landline phone. Rogers Wireless, Rogers Communications cell phone division, announced that it will be rolling out a “unlicensed mobile access" (UMA) which will allow customers to access unlimited calling in their homes through a connection to the Internet. High-speed connection is required; however, it does not have to be through Rogers. The company will cover the initial cost of the router via rebates. The service cost $15 for unlimited local calling and $20 for unlimited calling throughout Canada, not including the cost of the cell phone. The service which is only available on Rogers' GSM network should increase the rate of Canadians who want a cell-phone-only lifestyle. | ![]() |

According to HTC, the device also features a new version of HTC's TouchFLO interface, which puts a finger-friendly skin on Windows Mobile. It also comes with a customized Web browser will let users navigate by swiping with their fingers, and a built-in accelerometer rotates the screen when you rotate the device.
